TRUCK IDLING ORDINANCE Truck Idling Ordinance Passed for Improved Air Quality The City of Duncanville is working with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and our regional planning organization, North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), to improve air quality in Dallas County. The City passed Ordinance No. 2156 on September 20, 2011, that places restrictions on large trucks (gross vehicle rating over 14,000 pounds) from unnecessary idling and thus reducing air pollution. Essentially, idling times for large trucks are limited to five minutes with exceptions such as emergency vehicles, certain construction activities, vehicle maintenance, windshield defrosting, and passenger safety comfort on school buses. For a complete listing of other exceptions, please refer to Ordinance No. 2156. You may also refer to the NCTCOG website at www.EngineOffNorthTexas.org for additional information.
