News From The City Of Duncanville The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recently reported that doctors visits for influenza-like illness (ILI) are increasing nationally. As a result many residents having mounting concerns about contracting the flu, or more specifically the H1N1 virus, during the coming months. Read more here... Council Seeks Citizens to Serve on City Boards & Commissions Application deadline: February 12, 2010 The Duncanville City Council is currently accepting applications from citizens interested in volunteering their service on several of the City’s boards. To be eligible to serve, one must be a resident, qualified voter of the City of Duncanville, and not delinquent in the payment of ad valorem taxes or in the payment of fines to the City. According to City Secretary Dara Crabtree, mid-year vacancies will be filled on the following boards: Board of Adjustment, Park and Recreation Advisory Board, Library Advisory Board, Sign Control Board and Certified Retirement Community Oversight Committee. “Applications will be accepted until February 12th. Following the application deadline, the City Council will conduct a brief interview with each applicant and consider appointments at a future meeting,” she added. Anyone interested in serving is encouraged to forward a completed application to Dara Crabtree, City Secretary, P.O. Box 380280, Duncanville, Texas 75138-0280. Sign Up for Email Blasts from the City The City of Duncanville Public Information Office has created a new way to provide information to the community through “email blasts,” which are weekly emails that are sent directly to email inboxes with information on City events, news, programs, and meetings.
In order to sign up for the email blasts, simply type in your email address in the “Sign Up for Email Blasts from the City!” box and click “Go.” From there, you will be able to confirm your interest in joining the email list. Afterwards, you will be sent a confirmation email thanking you for signing up. This new email blast service will allow you to stay informed and easily forward the email to family and friends.
