FY 2010 - 2011 Budget & Tax Rate Information

At its regular meeting on August 17th, the Duncanville City Council will conduct the following public hearings:

1. Public hearing to receive input on the proposed FY 2010-2011 budget for all City funds.
2. Public hearing on the proposal to increase the revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding tax year by 2.35 percent. Note: See complete “Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Increase” below.
3. Public hearing to receive input on the proposed FY 2010-2011 Hotel/Motel tax budget.

All residents are invited to attend the public hearings and express their views. Comments may also be submitted electronically using the Public Hearing Comment Form. Electronic submissions must be received by noon on Tuesday, August 17th.

Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Increase

The City of Duncanville, Texas will hold two public hearings on a proposal to increase total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding tax year by 2.35 percent. Your individual taxes may increase at a greater or lesser rate, or even decrease, depending on the change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value of all other property and the tax rate that is adopted.

The first public hearing will be held on August 17, 2010 at7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers at 203 E. Wheatland Road , Duncanville , Texas 75116 .

The second public hearing will be held on September 7, 2010 at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers at 203 E. Wheatland Road , Duncanville , Texas 75116 .

The members of the governing body voted on the proposal to consider the tax increase as follows:

FOR: 7

AGAINST: 0

PRESENT and not voting: None

ABSENT: None

The average taxable value of a residence homestead in Duncanville , Texas last year was $105,870 . Based on last year’s tax rate of $0.696 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed last year on the average home was $736.86.

The average taxable value of a residence homestead in Duncanville , Texas this year is $102,161. If the governing body adopts the effective tax rate for this year of $0.737692 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed this year on the average home would be $753.63.

If the governing body adopts the proposed tax rate of $0.737692 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed this year on the average home would be $753.63.
